Brian and I were so sad to see our favorite video store is going out of business! Couch Potato's is (was) a great local shop with a wide selection and diverse, friendly staff. With On Demand and Netflix, not to mention libraries (guilty!), times are tough for video renters. But we agree that the experience of selecting a video in a store is not the same as clicking one into queue. We like browsing and reading cases and asking, What about this? Did you ever see it? I like the video store smell (warm plastic and popcorn?) and considering Staff Picks. Scoping out the New to DVD wall. Buying Nerds on a Rope at the counter even though I gave up childish candy.
We will really miss this place: on snowy winter Saturdays, late summer nights, on sick days, holidays, and any time we feel like being couch potatoes.
